What is LTL or Less Than Truckload?<\/h2>\n

In the logistics world, LTL stands for Less Than Truckload<\/a>, and it\u2019s basically exactly what it sounds like – anytime you have an item you\u2019d like to ship that will take up \u201cless than a truckload,\u201d it will be considered an LTL shipment.<\/p>\n

In most cases, a regular LTL shipment<\/strong> will take less than 12 feet of linear trailer space. For those of you who don\u2019t have truck dimensions tacked to your cubicle, this works out to six 48\u201d x 40\u201d (LxW) standard size pallets which are not stacked.<\/p>\n

Getting an Accurate LTL Shipping Quote<\/h2>\n

Now that we\u2019ve defined Less Than Truckload, what exactly do we need from you to get an accurate LTL shipping quote? Here are the 5 basic must-have pieces of information we require:<\/p>\n

  2. Destination city or postal\/zip code<\/li>\n
  3. Freight Class (a description of what the product is)<\/li>\n
  4. Total Weight or weight per pallet<\/li>\n

    Without these 5 bits of information, any freight quote you receive will be considered incomplete, and on paper it might even look too good to be true.<\/p>\n

    Along with your freight quote, it\u2019s also important to understand the additional services you may select or be charged with when choosing to ship LTL \u2013 services like power tailgate needed on delivery, automatic business to business delivery (dock to dock), or shipments going to a residential address are all services that may require an extra charge.<\/p>\n
